SIDC Economic Resiliency Plan

Daviess, Greene, Knox, Lawrence and Martin Counties, IN

PROJECT SUMMARY.

The Southern Indiana Development Commission (SIDC) worked with Taylor Siefker Williams Design Group to prepare the Regional Economic Recovery and Resiliency Plan for the SIDC region. The SIDC supports economic development and community planning initiatives in Daviess, Greene, Knox, Lawrence and Martin Counties, IN. The Economic Resiliency Plan presents an opportunity to identify the specific economic challenges and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the region as well as prepare for future natural or systemic disasters to the economy. The strategies developed as part of this effort are focused on short-term, long-term and regional resiliency needs to prepare a sustainable and resilient economic for the SIDC region.

As part of the work TSWDG facilitated included the preparation of a needs survey that was distributed to local businesses and consumers, facilitation of community stakeholder and community conversations to gain a better understanding of the challenges and impact the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the economy across different groups, to what extent, and what the long-term impact for these groups may be if nothing is done in the future. Final plan recommendations are anticipated to be presented to the region in mid-2022.
